ASSISTANT FINANCIAL CONTROLLER

Job description

We are looking for a reliable Assistant Finance Controller to assist in preparing statements that follow all regulatory and accounting guidelines under the supervision of a controller. You will be responsible for identifying and preventing discrepancies and helping set up control systems.

Roles and Responsibilities

An effective assistant controller has good knowledge of accounting principles. You must be organized professionals with a great eye for detail. You must be reliable and able to carry out tasks autonomously and collaboratively. The goal is to contribute to keep the accounting and financial processes of the company up to standard and ensure accurate financial reporting and control. You will report to a financial controller

• Oversee accounting and banking records, ledgers, and reporting systems.
• Perform day to day financial transactions, including verifying, posting, and recording accounting data's.
• Verify discrepancies and resolve account issues.
• Maintain and improve integrations between all IT/Financial systems.
• Participate in month and year-end closing activities.
• Maintain and improve internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and budgets and actual expenditures.
• Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely
• manner.
• Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by filing financial reports/tax returns, making payments according to schedule, and licensing.
• Manage and safeguard cash management process for all companies in the organization.
• Maintain high level of integrity and professionalism with payroll knowledge.
• Generate, analyze, and deliver reports to different departments as needed
• Help with various accounting reconciliations and entries
• Perform accounts receivable functions one day a week
• Reconcile the accounts receivable accounts to ensure proper segregation of duties
• Team Leadership
• Leverage strengths of the current finance team members
• Help to clarify roles and responsibilities
• Develop and implement training programs maximizing and reaching optimal individual and organizational goals
• Maintain and improve customer service of accounting team 
•  Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization.
• Create and promote a positive and supportive work environment

Requirements and skills

• Proven experience as assistant controller or other similar position
• Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations
• Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial closure,
• reporting etc.)
• Understanding of data analysis and forecasting
• Working knowledge of MS Office (especially excel) and accounting software (e.g., SAP)
• Well-organized with ability to prioritize
• Very good communication and interpersonal skills
• Attention to detail and problem-solving ability
• BA in accounting, finance or relevant field is preferred Professional certification (e.g., CPA) is a plus
